Living Word

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
– Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV)

The Library of Congress claims to have collections of books and other printed materials of upwards of 32 million. They have over 30 million recordings, 15 million photographs, over 5 million maps and roughly 61 million manuscripts. Yet amongst all these volumes of materials only one claims to be alive and powerful and that is the Bible. This places The Bible in a unique category all by itself.

The word “living” in Hebrews 4 is the Greek word Zao, which means “to live or to be alive.” Imagine the impact of the living Word of God that is actively and consistently alive.

Its important for all believers to understand that the Bible is no dead letter. It’s not just for reading purposes, it’s meant for living purposes. It is a blueprint to life that should permeate our very souls.

The soul can do without everything except the word of God, without which none at all of its wants are provided for.
~Martin Luther

Bill Bright in his Book “How can I understand the Bible” tells of a man who told Rodney Smith an English Evangelist that he had received no inspiration from the Bible after reading it several times. Rodney replied to him “Let it flow through you once,” “then you will tell a different story!” Note he did say read, he said to “let it flow through you”. This is a major point to ponder that Gods Word flows through us.

As believers we all must come to know God’s word in order to properly relate to God. Knowing God’s word leads to inspiration and eventually transformation. When the Word of God is understood life begins.

Father help us to gain clarity to living in knowing you word is alive, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
